Island Hopping

As I've mentioned in my previous post about my recent visit in Puerto Galera, the only activity that we did was Island Hopping.  It was a good experience for first timers like me.  The scenery is so gorgeous and a lot to take in and the water were freezing in the morning.

This mini boat. I cannot believe I survived the tour without panicking >.<

So, it was six in the morning when we took our island hopping tour.  I must say I didn't get nervous even though the boat is so small (I mentioned the boat fright I had on the huge boat on the way to Puerto Galera here).  That's probably because I was expecting it. =)  Even though the waves were strong that morning.  Tip:  For those who haven't gone island hopping tour yet, make sure your gadgets (i.e.  Phone, Cameras, etc) are protected.  My friend and I bought these water proof bags for our gadgets in fear they might get wet on the tour.

If the waves were strong, so was the air.  We began our tour with a stop in the middle of the ocean (a little exaggeration, I admit) for the snorkelling activity, which we didn't do because we do not have the time.  We needed to be back before lunch because of our scheduled boat ride going back to Batangas Port.  And also because of the fact that none of us can swim so we dared not to.  It sure was a waste. So we went on to the first island but the strong waves didn't permit us to dock on its shore. [bummer >.< I know]  But good thing we enjoyed our visit to the second island where our boat man took us.

Maniknik Island

This island has lots of corals (white ones) on its shore.  My sister mistook them as bones of some animal.  So did my friend.  I, on the other hand thought they were just small rocks but when you look closely, you'll see that they're corals :)  This island also has a place where you can eat and they offer breakfast and lunch.

What I enjoyed the most about visiting here is this specific rock.  Yup, at Puerto Galera I experienced my very first climb, at a very large rock that has very sharp edges.  I think this is made of corals of some sort.  My brother is the first one to climb.  Followed by my stubborn boyfriend then my stubborn friend then me, so I guess that makes us all stubborn since my eldest sister told us not to. Haha!

Yeah we made it to the top! Yey! :)

I was not at all worried about climbing even though one mistake could lead to a fatal accident (ouch!)  But thankfully nothing of that sort happened.  The view from the top is breath-taking.  The wind was so strong; you could hardly take it all in at once. You can totally feel the rush of nature.  But unfortunately, I wasn't able to take photos from up there.  I didn't bring my camera or even my phone on the way up in fear of dropping it.  But the view of what the scenery looked like from up there will be forever etched on my mind. :)

So after an adventurous climb at Maniknik Island, we went on with our tour.  Next stop is Bayanan Island.  Our boat man (I forgot his name, sorry -___-) said it’s a private island but visiting is allowed.  I'm not sure how that works with people who provide the tour and the island's owner.

We were able to swim here and the water is freezing. >.< We planned on staying for an hour but our stay was cut short when small drops of rain started to pour in.  And our boat man said that we should get going because it might rain hard soon and we're going to have some difficulty returning to the main land if that happens.

It’s such a shame to end our tour that way, but then we still had some time to hit the beach for the last time before our boat ride back to Batangas.  I wished we could have stayed for another night.  Next time, maybe?  Mindoro is a wonderful place to visit.  I hope to come back  next year. >.<
