After driving through the mad-made forest, our tourist guide took us to the Simply Butterflies Conservation Center in Poblacion.  I had a lot of fun with this part of the tour not just because its educational but also their tour guides are quite hilarious in conducting their tour. We found our selves laughing our heads off every time he cracks a joke. Haha

Anyways, below are some of the photos I took.

Man-made Forest | Bilar, Bohol

One of the greatest experience I brought home from my recent trip to Bohol is being able to see this magnificent forest. The fact that it is man-made is one of the things that I like about this tourist spot.  Our tour guide said that it was built in the 1950's and I read in Visit Bohol's Blog that it is a part of a reforestation project. When I saw this I cannot believe that it is man-made. I've always liked taking photos of roads and trees and the scenery here surely hit the spot. :)

Bohol | Cebu 2013

I just came home yesterday from a 4-day tour in Bohol and Cebu. This is the first time I went to the Visayas Region of my country even though I basically lived here my entire life and the fact that my mom was born and raised in Ilo-Ilo but I've never set foot there. This is also the farthest I've ever been away from home, so far. :)

Its June so we were a bit concerned about the weather. It was raining really hard for a few days and we feared our flight may be delayed or worse, get cancelled. But Manila, Cebu, and Bohol has been kind and gave out a warm sunshine just in time for the trip and we're glad we didn't come to making the decision of cancelling it.

Our first stop was Bohol. After landing in Mactan International Airport, we went to the pier and took a ferry going to Tagbilaran City and there we met our tour guide Kuya Ruel.

The first day was the Country Side Tour.
The places we went to:

Bilar Man-made Forrest
Simply Butterfly Conservation Center
Chocolate Hills
Tarsier Conservation Area
Loboc River Cruise
Baclayon Church

On the second day, we hit the beach. Yeah! :)
The places we went to:

Dauis Church
Bohol Bee Farm
Panglao Island Nature Resort
Hinagdanan Cave

On the third day, we took a ferry going back to Cebu and stayed at a Hotel in Cebu City.
My friend and I didn't really like the city because of the same old buildings, traffic and establishments. (I mean you can see all that here in Manila.) When we got there, we wanted to go back to Bohol T.T
But we drowned our disappointments with food. Food.. Glorious food..
We had dinner at Zubuchon. Yum Yum :) And got a back massage at Nuat Thai

On the fourth day, we went to see the Basilica del Sto. Niño. One of the most beautiful Catholic Church I've ever seen.  We also visited Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. And the Magellan's Cross. We had lunch at Abuhan Pochero. Yum Yum :) and the DIY. ehem. short tour we did in Cebu ended with a visit to SM Cebu. So we only went there to visit churches, get a massage, eat our hearts out and go stroll in the mall. haha (-_-)

Bohol is such a beautiful place. And I would really like to go back there. Hehe :)
As for Cebu, it really is a shame that I didn't get a chance to visit New Susing's Guitar :(
Hayy.. Next time, maybe. XD

Bohol and Cebu 2013 Visit ~

I have like 600 photos from the trip. I'm currently trying to filter all of it. I'm not sure how long that's going to take but I'm going to post most of them on my flickr account and try to write different posts about every place that we visited for the next few days. Before June ends, I hope. :)

I didn't really enjoy the plane ride because I'm a paranoid freak. And the flight home was really bumpy but I'm really glad to have been a part of this adventure. Special thanks to my friend B for inviting me and her friends for the great company :)

Trying to make use of the watercolour pencil. This is supposed to have no outlines but the watercolour pencil mixed with the lead pencil I used so I had to improvise.

Happy Independence Day Folks!

(trans: I'm a Filipino)
Copyright © July 2010

June 12, 1898.
The day Emilio Aguinaldo declared the Philippine Independence from the Spanish colonial rule.

In commemorating the day, here is an artwork I did almost 3 years ago. I couldn't find the original file (no watermark) so I ended up using the one uploaded on my DeviantArt account.

I watched the film El Presidente last year and its based on the life of the first president of the Philippines (Emilio Aguinaldo). It was actually like my Philippine History book coming to life. I remember when I was a kid, I never liked history but when I went to college, my professor taught in a way I got a little interested. (And also, the fact that I like her may have added some points) I mean, not knowing the history of your own country is a little embarrassing, don't you think? Well, I respect and admire the courage my ancestors had back when they tried and successfully freed the Philippines from colonization. And to this day, its been 115 years. Kudos to all the heroes and may the Philippines be always free in the years to come.

Intramuros Manila

Copyright © June 2013

Last Sunday, my friends and I visited Intramuros (also known as the Walled City) and Fort Santiago in Manila. That visit is supposed to be a drawing session that turned into a photo session ~ ish and went into a freaking walkathon. Yup that's right we just walked. We arguably turned down every pedicab and kalesa ride offered to us there. Which by the way, we totally regretted after realizing how far we walked across Intramuros. There was even a moment when I just want to stop right where I am and sit on the ground. The weather made it even worse. It was so darn hot when we got there and it rained in the afternoon. We can see smoke coming from the ground like a really hot grill got poured on with water.

I tried painting an apple the other day and this is how it turned out. I used a 200 gsm paper on this one and it  couldn't tolerate the amount of water I used.
I thought paper's gonna have a huge hole in the middle of my painting.

Time..

Oh time.. How I wish you'd stop sometimes..

Artwork Daily: Every Rose..

My artwork daily has become artwork weekly | bi-weekly. Haha. I was gone for quite a while. Didn't render any over time this past week but I needed to rest so I took a lot of it. I just woke up from a 12-hour sleep. Great. Now I'm a sleep junkie. (=_+)

Drew this rose a few weeks ago.
